Kumite (組手) means sparring, and is one of the three main sections of karate training, along with kata and kihon. Kumite is the part of karate in which you train against an adversary, using the techniques learned from the kihon and kata.
Focus is on personal technique and drills to benefit timing, distancing and foot work. We always end with several rounds of limited contact sparring for cardio and fun. Schedule varies. See Sensei Billy G for more info.
Sunday MMA Classes:
This is one of our more popular classes that features several of our top black belts with a focus on physical fitness and continuous contact sparring. Sensei Mike’s experience is broad with a background in wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts and karate. An eye-opening physical class for anyone who wants to step up their training. This is an adult only class on Sunday afternoons.
